Nowadays life has become very fast and complicated. We don’t have time to look around us and settle down little things but fixing stuff around yourself gives you mental peace. It gives you a feeling of being organized. The “organization” in a person is one of the core principles of management and leadership. The whole process of management involves the following :
Fix your stuff, Be organized
These principles operate together in the creation, execution, and realization of organizational goals. Fixing stuff comes under the “organization”. It is very essential to keep the environment around you in an arranged manner and free from clutter. It helps you to work more efficiently. I was assigned a task in the project work this week related to the arrangement of my surroundings. So I decided to set my closet. I was delaying it for the last two weeks but my project work provided me an opportunity to complete that pending task. Everyone has to deal with such situations but it is better not to make this a habit. If we do not delay things, there will be no disorganization of things.
“ Clutter is nothing more than postponed decisions.”
I am a person who does multiple things at a time. Therefore, I sometimes don’t get time to do basic things like setting my closet. Now I found an opportunity to do my work and submit that project work as well. Everything inside the room was organized but not inside the closet. My clothing was not ironed lying in the closet without any order. stollars were also mixed up with each other and it was looking messy like this:
So, first of all, I cleaned the closet. Then I ironed all my clothes and hanged them in the closet. It was time taking work but it gave me a feeling of satisfaction. Here it is:
I wanted to fix the mess created by bundles of unsorted stollars. So, To put all of the stollars in order, I found some cardboard boxes. I used a thick strand to bind the boxes.
After making the boxes ready I put stollars in them in order. There was some other stuff also which I put in a separate small bag. Now it was ready to put in the closet and I did that.
My closet was looking neat and organized without any clutter. It gave me mental satisfaction and peace that major work is done today. There is no more burden of that pending task in my mind.
I did it because I have to keep my closet clean and arranged. As I mentioned earlier I do it whenever I find time in a month. Doing such things with a sense of responsibility and accountability towards your conscience is an act of leadership. I am happy to learn in the course that doing such things without any authority is related to leadership and it means I also practice leadership in my daily life. I have also learned that we should practice organizing things to add value to our daily routine. It builds up our self-respect and morale.
